 | Precision Matters: Case Mandrel
Our 356 cases are getting old. And expensive. Various case dimensions have a great effect on engine performance and reliability. Two dimensions are measurable with the Case Dimension Mandrel and nothing else. Main bearing bore dimensions affect reliability first and, to a lesser degree, performance. With an inside micrometer or dial bore gauge, you can measure the diameters of the main bearing bores, but not their alignment. With the CDM, you can measure both the diameters and the alignment of the three case bores. The distance from the crank centerline and the cylinder seats is equally important, but with performance first and reliability second. Because of the separate-cylinder construction of our engines, this dimension is very important in determining compression ratio and cylinder/head sealing. There is no other reliable method of finding those dimensions Call for pricing and information: +44 (0) 1787 476338
